Collaboration with the Nutrition Society of the UK and Ireland

On the 25th and 26th of May, 2022 the Sabri Ülker Foundation hosted a meeting in Istanbul entitled:

“Achieving health through diet: A joint event of the Sabri Ülker Foundation and The Nutrition Society of UK and Ireland” 

In addition to an invited audience present in Istanbul, the event attracted over 4,000 delegates from 62 countries who followed the proceedings online.

The primary purpose of this event was to inspire healthcare professionals to better consider the role of nutrition in their practice.

We were privileged to have with us in Istanbul an international group of experts who reviewed for us the status of nutrition and health in their respective regions and areas of expertise. We then learnt from them about initiatives underway to make a positive difference. Highlights included a highly effective campaign to reduce salt intake in Türkiye, a longstanding intervention programme in Finland which has resulted in an 84% reduction in premature cardiovascular deaths in males, and an intervention study in the UK, the DiRECT study, which recorded a 70% remission of Type 2 diabetes.
